Half of the around 50 youth hostels are owned by the Swiss Foundation for Social Tourism. The rented properties are operated in close cooperation with local authorities. The network is also complemented by strategic associated Youth Hostels.

Of the properties owned by the Swiss Foundation for Social Tourism, around half have been planned and built as youth hostels. The other buildings have been adapted from their original uses, including sanatoriums, castles and even factories.

Rented youth hostels
Rental properties
In close cooperation with the local communities, we develop youth hostels at existing properties. While the municipalities provide the infrastructure, the Swiss Youth Hostels bear the operational risk.
